When the agency started, our Founder & Creative Director, Moonbeam (Kaitlyn in Earth English), was at a crossroads of combining the need for a creative outlet and a desire to immerse herself in the literary world. Spending time producing academic research papers and a thesis in marginalized communities was rewarding, but lacked the spark found in creative work. Struggling for professional alignment, staying up late working on her debut novel, and clinging to the self-belief she could march to the beat of her drum, The Martian Writes bloomed.  The idea was solid; authors needed the support, but what makes this agency different? The reflection led us to create three core tenets.

Supporting Authentic Voices

We’re here to encourage you to write the story that needs to be shared. A space opera filled with trans and non-binary characters? Write it. An action-packed, gender-swapped historical retelling with romantic undertones? Write it. An examination of advanced technology in the hands of a dystopian political faction? I am dying to read it. We’re an eclectic breed that doesn’t dismiss ideas as ridiculous or claim to be the premier voice on marketability. Supporting sincere voices means keeping the bones of your story and fine-tuning it into a polished novel for your readers.

Our founder’s background in social science is another tenet that steps away from the conventional rules.
