FAQs

Do you do sample edits?

Most definitely! Sample edits are the perfect way for clients to learn if The Martian Writes provides the right services for them. Sample edits include:

  • Manuscript assessment - one chapter or up to 3,500 words.

  • Line editing and proofreading - up to 1,000 words.

What is the process of hiring you as an editor?

You'll fill out our contact form, and we'll confirm that it’s a genre we work in. If it’s a good fit, we’ll schedule a video call to discuss your manuscript and pain points. When both parties are satisfied with the scope of the service, you'll receive a contract stipulating the service selection, time frame, and total cost.

Once we have the manuscript, we get to work! Upon receipt of your edited manuscript, we’ll schedule a final call to discuss changes made and any additional questions you have.

What genres do you work in?

Fantasy, sci-fi, literary fiction, and romance are our primary genres. We do not read young adult, non-fiction, or novels that are firmly in the mystery, horror, or thriller categories.

Can I split my payments?

Yes! We understand every writer's situation is different. We offer flexible, interest-free split payments on all services with our in-house invoicing software. Additionally, clients have the option to select BNPL software such as Affirm and Klarna.

Please note that an initial deposit of up to 50% is required before work begins. All payments for services must be completed before the return of your manuscript.

Do I have to accept your changes in my final draft?

Absolutely not!

We strive to make changes that strengthen your story without diminishing your unique voice. However, it does not always mean we will have the same vision for the direction of your narrative. The beauty of writing a story YOU want to write is that all final editing decisions are yours alone.

I still have questions. What is the best way to get in touch?

You can send an email to contact@themartianwrites.com or head over to our contact page   We’re always happy to help you identify what stage of feedback your story needs.
